removing blocks and links from right sidebar - noob volunteer needs a quick pointer

Hello, bonjour. Total noob questions. We do a lot of work with Drupal CMS but SPIP is new to me. Someone has just given us a login for some existing SPIP sites and asked if we can help update some things. Having had a tentative look around I have to say I am uncertain where to start.
One of the sites is http://africangreens.org/
I have been asked to do the following
– remove the two buttons from the top of the right hand sidebar (euro and announcements)
– remove the flashing ’new’ from the various items in right hand sidebar
I don’t see any plugins that are loaded on the site.
I have looked under ’entire site’, launch pad, site edit but nothing leaps out as indicating where the content for that right sidebar might be coming from.
Appreciate your help - and there isn’t another set of 20 questions to dump on to whoever is kind enough to help out (well not that i have been told about)
